AEW Star Daniel Garcia Allegedly Choked Out Independent Wrestler

AEW star Daniel Garcia choked out independent wrestler Myung-Jae Lee in a restaurant.

Indie wrestler Myung-Jae Lee recently shared a memorable incident from his early days in the wrestling industry during an appearance on the Indied – The Independent Wrestling Podcast on the Fightful Overbooked YouTube channel. Lee, who began his in-ring career in 2021 after training at Grapplers Anonymous in Buffalo, New York, revealed that he had an unfortunate encounter with AEW star Daniel Garcia.

According to Lee, the incident took place at a CoreLife Eatery, where he, Garcia, and two others were having a meal. In an unexpected turn of events, Garcia playfully applied a chokehold on Lee. Despite tapping out immediately, Garcia didn’t release the hold, causing Lee to pass out and collapse to the ground.

One time, the original Buffalo Brothers went to a CoreLife Eatery. Kevin Bennett dragged along this guy named Vinnie Moon and Puf dragged me along. We go and eat our food, and Dan [Daniel Garcia] started to put a little chokehold on me. I know to just tap. I’m not dumb, I’m not going to fight it. I tap immediately, but he doesn’t let go. When he finally lets go, I literally pass out and fall to the ground in this CoreLife Eatery. It was crazy. I’m surprised it didn’t make headlines.

Despite the mishap, Lee has continued to make strides in his wrestling career. He recently competed on the July 28th episode of AEW Rampage, teaming up with fellow Grapplers Anonymous graduate Hayden Backlund in a match against The Kingdom, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett.
