CM Punk hasn’t been seen in AEW since last September, but that doesn’t stop him from being the name on everyone’s lips.
The star was reportedly in talks to return to All Elite Wrestling until a recent now-deleted Instagram post expressing frustrations derailed progress between the two sides. While many are critical of Punk’s approach, some have also revealed a softer side to the Second City Savior. During FTR Live with Dax Harwood as part of Wrestlecon, Harwood revealed a text message from Punk to the fans in attendance, saying he misses them.
Now, Danhausen, who is currently dealing with an injury, has taken to social media to reveal an incredible gesture from the Chicago native, saying that “Pepsi Phil” gifted him a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 from 1962. The comic in question is one of the most sought-after by collectors as it features the first appearance of the now-iconic Spider-Man.
“Hello, I’ve had a really rough last month with everything going on in my life and a great friend of mine @cmpunk surprised me today with my holy grail collectible from @elite_comics11 he knew I’ve wanted for a very long time in an unspeakable act of kindness amongst other suspected unspeakable acts of kindness. He will be mad that I posted this but I do not care, this is my revenge. I have a bunch more nice things to say but I will save it for now. Thank you Pepsi Phil.”
The issue in question received a 1.8 CGC rating, placing it in fair condition. According to comic site GoCollect, an issue with a 2.0 grading is assigned a fair market value of $21,000, while Quality Comix places the FMV at $14,000, meaning Danhausen’s copy is very valuable indeed. A near-mint copy of the comic sold for a whopping $3.6 million back in 2021, the record high value for the issue.

CM Punk Has Been Absent From AEW Since All Out 2022
Following his AEW World Championship win at last year’s All Out, Punk took part in a media scrum once the pay-per-view was off the air. Sitting next to AEW President Tony Khan, the star launched into a verbal tirade against former friend Colt Cabana, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, and though he didn’t call them out by name, the AEW EVP’s, who he said “couldn’t manage a Target.”
Enraged, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks confronted Punk in his dressing room, and the brawl that ensued has now become the stuff of legend. Everyone involved was suspended, and while The Elite returned at Full Gear in November, Punk remains absent from the company.
