AEW Dynamite featured MJF, Saraya and Jon Moxley defending their titles while Chris Jericho faced Sammy Guevara.

This episode took place at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. The announcers were Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz.

Match #1:Eddie Kingston defeated Claudio Castagnoli by pinfall to win the ROH World Championship in a Title vs. Title match with Eddie also defending the NJPW Strong Openweight Title. – They both kicked out of big moves. Eddie connected with a back fist and a Powerbomb to get the pinfall win.

Post match, Claudio shook Eddie’s hand and Claudio left quickly. The fans cheered loudly for Kingston as he celebrated with the ROH World Title & NJPW Strong Openweight Title.

Roderick Strong was in a “hospital” for his bad neck with The Kingdom’s Matt Taven & Mike Bennett visiting along with Adam Cole. Strong was mad when Cole left to support MJF.

Match #2:Chris Jericho defeated Sammy Guevara by pinfall. – Sammy went for Shooting Star Press off the top, but Jericho countered with a Codebreaker for the pinfall win.

After the match, Jericho and Sammy shook hands followed by a hug. Sammy followed that with a kick to the groin and Sammy shoved Jericho down. Same scene from WrestleMania 19 when Jericho did that to Shawn Michaels. Don Callis walked out and put his arm around Sammy to show that they are allies now. The fans booed.

Match #3: Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to win the International Championship by pinfall. – There was an issue with the match because it appeared that Moxley was knocked out and may have suffered a concussion. After Fenix hit a sitout driver, Moxley didn’t kick out, yet the refereee Rick Knox stopped counting. Fenix picked up Moxley and did the sitout driver again for the pinfall win. Moxley was checked on by a doctor after the match.

When Samoa Joe did a backstage promo about beating MJF, fans could be heard chanting “Moxley” in the arena to show support for him.

Match #4: Saraya defeated Toni Storm to retain the AEW Women’s Championship by pinfall. – Saraya tried to cheat, but Storm outsmarted her. Storm even kissed Saraya on the lips followed by Storm Zero for a two count. Saraya won with the Nightcap DDT off the middle turnbuckle for the pinfall win.

Prior to MJF’s entrance for the main event, there was a video featuring a little kid with his dad and the kid shouted for MJF. That led to MJF handing the kid his scarf. MJF told the kid something. The kid said to his dad: “Dad, I’m adopted?” The crowd laughed. It was like a Bret Hart-WWF/E clip from 30 years ago, which was a parody of the Mean Joe Green commercial featuring the NFL legend and a kid.

Match #5:MJF defeated Samoa Joe to retain the AEW World Championship by submission. – Joe came close to winning a few times including with a Muscle Buster for a two count. MJF used tape to choke Joe while the referee took a bump to the floor. MJF choked out Joe with his own version of a Coquina Clutch submission and Joe passed out so MJF won.

After the match, Joe shoved Cole and Joe shook MJF’s hand.

MJF had a celebration for a few minutes with Adam Cole. The show ended at 10:05 p.m. ET so they had a five-minute overrun this week.

After Dynamite went off the air Rampage was taped which involved the ROH Six-Man Titles changing hands.
