The Latest On Carlito Returning To WWE

Carlito

Plans were in place for Carlito for a return to WWE television, but they reportedly got tabled.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the comeback for Carlito was initially slated for this past week while WWE was in New York City. The former Intercontinental Champion was not in attendance for WWE SmackDown as it hailed from Madison Square Garden on Friday, but he reportedly was in the greater northeast area of the U.S. for WWE.

Carlito Can Still Elicit A Very Cool Reaction From Fans

Even if he may have had the “hometown advantage” of Puerto Rico, Carlito shown that he still garners star power in today’s world of professional wrestling. At WWE Backlash he notoriously popped the Puerto Rican crowd to “Stone Cold” levels of decibils as he ran in to even the odds for Bad Bunny against Damian Priest. Before re-signing with the company last month, Carlito hasn’t been a full-time employee with WWE since 2010. He was released from his contract after he refused to go into rehab.

Time heals all wounds as Carlito would return to induct his father into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2014, and he also made a surprise appearance during the 2021 Royal Rumble. Carlito would then wrestle the next night on “WWE Raw,” teaming with Jeff Hardy to battle Elias and Jaxson Ryker.

Carlito’s last appearance before signing with WWE was at his home promotion’s 50th Anniversary show as he’d face Intelecto 5 Estrellas in a losing effort for the WWC Universal Championship.
