Former WWE Tag Team Champions Impress Backstage Officials

Kofi Kingston and Ivar have caught the attention of WWE higher-ups.

Unfortunately in wrestling, injuries can occur and plans have to change. However, this can cause more complications when a member of a tag team gets injured as there are sometimes no plans for the uninjured member of the team, leaving them off of the show until further notice as creative has nothing for them. However, even though Erik has been sidelined for the foreseeable future, fellow Viking Raider Ivar is still a dominating presence on Monday nights.

As reported by Fightful Select, both Kingston and Ivar have been given “high marks” for their recent performances, which included the impromptu singles match on September 18th and the Viking Rules follow-up on October 9th. Both matches are said to have made the company consider using Ivar in a singles capacity more in the near future, not missing a beat despite not having a televised singles match for nearly 5 years.

On the September 18th episode of Raw WWE made the decision to have Ivar and Kingston go it alone as the originally advertised match between The Raider and The New Day in a 2 out of 3 falls match was unable to take place. Despite the match being a straightforward singles match, Fightful reports that the match was given as much time as the 2 out of 3 falls match would have gotten and was given heaps of praise afterwards.

Kofi Kingston Discusses WWE Championship Win

With Kingston also receiving high praise from company officials, could this lead to a future championship opportunity? As seen at WrestleMania 35, Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan to capture the top title for the first time in his career. Dubbed Kofimania by the fans, Kofi Kingston has recently discussed the legacy of the historic win.
