WWE Title Match Confirmed For Survivor Series

WWE Title Match Confirmed For Survivor Series

Gunther will defend the Intercontinental Championship against The Miz at WWE Survivor Series following the confusion that took place on Raw.

As seen on November 6th, The Miz won a 4-way match to be crowned the new number one contender. However, the original plan was for Miz and Ivar to win the match at the same time, as was seen by the confusion amongst the Superstars and announcers shortly after the pin was counted.

The confusion took place as Ricochet potentially suffered an injury in the match and was placed into concussion protocol shortly afterwards. It was said they he could not remember most of the match that he was involved in.

Ivar attacked The Miz after the match and a singles match was announced for the following week’s show. As reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, this was going to be a second number one contenders match:

And Adam Pearce was gonna go in and make the announcement that because of what happened, we’re going to have a match next week, which you know, between Miz and Ivar. And the winner of that would face Gunther. So that’s how it was originally booked.

However, the match has now been made official and is listed on WWE’s event page for the upcoming show, which will see The Ring General defend the title against The A Lister with the intention of extending the record-setting reign. It should be noted that Meltzer also mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that Gunther vs. The Miz was always the original plan.

WarGames Returns At WWE Survivor Series

Three matches have now been made official for the upcoming show in Chicago on November 25th. The updated line-up for the show is as follows:

  • Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Zoey Stark – Singles match for the Women’s World Championship.
  • Gunther (c) vs. The Miz – Singles match for the Intercontinental Championship.

It has also been reported that two stars will be added to the Men’s WarGames match, making it a 5-v-5 affair.
