Ricochet Unable To Remember Most Of WWE Match; Update On Suspected Concussion

An update on the condition of Ricochet has been provided following the finish of the match that took place on the November 6th episode of WWE Raw.

As seen in the broadcast, a 4-Way match took place between Ricochet, The Miz, Bronson Reed and Ivar where the winner would be the new number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. The finish of the match saw a double pin take place where Ivar pinned Ricochet and Miz pinned Reed. Although Reed stayed down for the 3 count, Ricochet kicked out, sparking confusion amongst the wrestlers and the announcers. It was later revealed that the Raw match had an unplanned finish due to a suspected concussion on Ricochet.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer clarified that the former Intercontinental Champion did not suffer a concussion but was placed into concussion protocol. It was also noted that he was unable to remember the majority of the match due to the injury sustained:

Bryan Alvarez: He got a concussion on the spot

Dave Meltzer: It’s concussion protocol. I don’t want to say concussion because it was not. As far as I know, it was not diagnosed as a concussion, but he’s fine. He doesn’t remember a lot of the match. I think was from what I understand was Miz talking him kind of through the match?

Bryan Alvarez: The only thing that I saw Miz doing was when they were doing the finish, he was screaming at the ref to count. Because, you know, the ref was supposed to count both of them down. And Ricochet was supposed to get pinned. And you can see when the ref gets to two Ricochet kicks out, and the ref holds up, because he doesn’t know why the guy kicked out. And then so Miz start screaming the ref to just count the f*cking pin. So he counts the pin and Miz wins. Yeah. So it was supposed to be Miz and Ivar actually winning.

When Will Ricochet Return To Action?

Meltzer continued, revealing that the original plan was for Miz and Ivar to win the match simultaneously and set up a future contest, which has been announced for November 13th. It was later noted that the original plan was for Miz to be the next challenger to Gunther even if the double pin happened.

In regards to when the Raw star will return, WWE are being understandably cautious due to the events that took place:

Dave Meltzer: And Adam Pearce was gonna go in and make the announcement that because of what happened, we’re going to have a match next week, which you know, between Miz and Ivar. And the winner of that would face Gunther. So that’s how it was originally booked. So with the situation like I said Richochet’s alright, but you know, as far as like when he’ll be cleared and all that it’s concussion protocol. You just don’t know.

In a new update, the WWE Raw star recently returned to action in a non-televised event.
