After reports that he’s unable to travel outside the United States, Gunther addressed his status for Bash in Berlin next August.
The Intercontinental Champion has proven himself one of the most dominant forces in WWE, even breaking the record for the longest Intercontinental Championship reign in company history. While his in-ring dominance shows no signs of slowing, a recent report indicated that the star is being limited on which events he’s able to attend.
The star was recently interviewed by Austrian website Krone, and it was noted in the article that he is not allowed to leave and compete outside the US for the next six months, seemingly due to “strict residency regulations.”
Although this is bad news for fans outside the US, it is good news for Gunther’s wife, as the star admitted he had only seen her “for six days in October.”
Will Gunther Be At WWE Bash In Berlin?
The news of his travel restriction comes shortly after WWE announced that Bash in Berlin will be taking place in Germany on August 31st, and fans naturally began wondering if the Intercontinental Champion would be able to travel internationally by the time the show takes place. Prior to signing with WWE, The Ring General often competed for the German promotion wXw, and making his way back to Germany would be a huge deal for fans in that country.
Speaking in a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Gunther put fans’ worries to rest as he explained his situation, noting that the restrictions are a standard part of applying for his green card in the United States.
“I’m applying for my green card. During that process, you can’t leave the country for a little bit. But the PLE is in August. It should be over by then.”
The restriction timeframe does, however, mean that the star will likely miss Elimination Chamber, which is set to take place in Australia in February of 2024. He was also absent from Crown Jewel on November 4th.
