“When I Got My Raises In WWE, They Came To Me” – Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley recently discussed his journey and success in the WWE.

During an interview on the Millionaire Goals podcast, Lashley, who began his WWE career in 2005, quickly established himself as a top player with an impressive undefeated streak. Although he took a decade-long break from the company, Lashley remained a prominent figure in wrestling and has since achieved multiple WWE title reigns.

During the podcast, Lashley emphasised the importance of hard work and dedication in his rise to success. He revealed that he never focused on the money but instead prioritised putting in the effort and delivering exceptional performances. Lashley shared a quote that resonated with him:

The harder I work, the luckier I get.

Unlike some wrestlers who demand more money without proving themselves, Lashley let his work speak for itself. He recalled that when he received raises in WWE, it was because the company recognised his talent and contributions.

When I got my raises in WWE, I didn’t go to the door, they came to me.

Lashley recounted a meeting with Vince McMahon, where he was informed of a raise without having to ask for it. He acknowledged that he started with modest pay in developmental but was determined to seize the opportunity and prove himself.

When I first got into developmental, I was getting paid ‘get by’ money. All I needed was the opportunity, that’s all I need. Just give me the opportunity, I’ll make my money after.

Through hard work and dedication, Lashley’s income increased significantly, with his earnings surpassing the seven-figure mark in just his second year.

I started busting my butt, and when I was on TV, I went from making little money…I think my second year in the business I broke the seven-figure mark.

Bobby Lashley attributed his success to being genuine and authentic. He emphasised that he never tried to be someone he wasn’t and remained true to himself, both in and out of the ring. Lashley’s authenticity resonated with the audience and management, leading to favourable reactions and opportunities.

He reiterated that he didn’t engage in politicking or ass-kissing but stayed true to his character, regardless of the situation.

I’m not the person to kiss ass, I’m not the person to schmooze, I’m me. I’m me to the waiter, I’m me to the CEO. I’m the same person. You can’t fake that.

What Is Bobby Lashley Doing In WWE Now?

Currently, Bobby Lashley is making waves on WWE SmackDown alongside the Street Profits, Montez Ford, and Angelo Dawkins. Although Lashley continues to be an on-screen character, he hasn’t performed in a televised match since losing to AJ Styles in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament semi-final match.
