Roman Reigns Says WrestleMania 39 Would “Make Sense” For Rock Match

Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns has called his shot as far as a match with The Rock goes. The current WWE Universal Champion has picked Wrestlemania 39 as the place for the dream bout to take place.

WWE announced on the 16th of January the dates and locations for the next 3 Wrestlemania events. Originally planned was for Wrestlemania 37 to take place at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the change and Wrestlemania this year will now take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The California event has been postponed until 2023. Speaking to Fox Sports 1, Reigns had the following to say in regards to the match:

“We’ll go to Hollywood for [WrestleMania] 39, and I think it just makes sense. He’s the biggest box office attraction for the big screen. So, to be able to take that and match it up with the biggest box office attraction in sports entertainment, I think some magic would be made.”

WWE would surely want to make sure fans could be in full attendance for a match of this magnitude. Roman Reigns is currently using the moniker of ‘The Head of the Table,’ in reference to his place in the famed Anoa’i wrestling family. The Rock, also a member of the Samoan dynasty, had his last WWE match in an impromptu outing against Erick Rowan at Wrestlemania 32.

The two stars have shared a ring before. At Royal Rumble 2015, The Rock would surprise everyone by saving Reigns from a beatdown following the Royal Rumble match. This is probably best remembered for the crowd reaction as boos rained down on the pair.

In other Wrestlemania news, Stephanie McMahon has recently confirmed plans that the company will have fans at Wrestlemania this year.
