Eight Year Old Saves Sister’s Life After Learning CPR From John Cena

John Cena

John Cena may have just helped save a life after an eight-year-old boy copied the WWE icon’s actions on TV when his sister started choking.

Young Jaxson Dempsey managed to dislodge some chicken nugget from his sister Leila’s throat by copying something he had seen Cena do on Nickelodeon’s ‘The Substitute.’

The show itself features celebrities going undercover in schools as substitute teachers to surprise students. The celebrities play jokes and pranks with each school featured receiving a $25,000 donation.

Cena featured in an episode of the first season of the show, which originally aired on October 4th, 2019.

Speaking to WNEP in Luzerne County, PA the young hero described what happened:

“We were driving to my haircut, and I noticed she was starting to choke from a chicken nugget from McDonald’s. I told my dad to pull over. Then I was starting to pat her back, and it got out.”

Jaxson commented that he knew what to do in the situation because of Cena’s show:

“It’s called The Substitute on Nickelodeon, and in the very first episode, John Cena was on it, and in the last part, he showed how to save someone when they’re choking.”

Jaxson’s father Matt Dempsey then discussed his son’s quick thinking actions:

“If I was by myself and Jaxson wasn’t with me, and I stopped and gave her a chicken nugget, I couldn’t hear her because she was choking. She wasn’t coughing, she wasn’t panicking. She just had no air going through, she wasn’t breathing. Thank God Jaxson was there because, without him, I don’t know if Lelia would be here.”

John Cena boasts an impressive career full of accomplishments including 16 world championships. His biggest accomplishment may now have been teaching a young man how to save his sister’s life.
