Ex-WWE Stars Demand Punjabi Prison Match Over WrestleMania Weekend

Jinder Mahal inside the Punjabi Prison Match at WWE Battleground

Two former WWE stars want to bring the Punjabi Prison Match to WrestleMania weekend.

In May of 2017, Jinder Mahal shocked the world when he defeated Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Backlash. Throughout his reign, he was accompanied by Bollywood Boyz Harv and Girv Shira, then known as the Singh Brothers.

The feud between Orton and Mahal did not end at Backlash, and Mahal was victorious over Orton at both Money in the Bank and Battleground in the months following his title win. At Battleground, WWE brought back the infamous Punjabi Prison Match for the WWE Title bout, and the Singh Brothers took a great deal of punishment from Orton as they helped Mahal secure yet another victory, even being thrown from the top of the cage by The Viper.

The Bollywood Boyz Want Revenge In Another Punjabi Prison Match

WrestleMania 40 is set to take place in Philadelphia, PA in April of 2024, and despite being months away, plans are already being made for wrestling’s biggest weekend. Independent promotion GCW have already announced that The Collective would once again take place the week of WrestleMania, and responding to a tweet about Defy joining the lineup, the former Singh Brothers indicated that they wanted revenge inside the Punjabi Prison.

“Someone bring back the Punjabi Prison match to Philadelphia – we’re getting our payback in 2024”

The brothers signed with WWE in 2016, and after a long partnership with Jinder Mahal, they were drafted to 205 Live in 2019. Both men were able to capture the 24/7 Championship, though their reigns didn’t last long before R-Truth was able to re-capture his prestigious prize on both occasions. They were released from WWE in 2021.

While not a favorite among many fans, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg once admitted he’s a big fan of the Punjabi Prison Match.
