Kurt Angle Attempted To Join The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Kurt Angle

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is undoubtedly the most successful film franchise of all time, and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle wants to be a part of it.

While The Rock and John Cena have starred as titular characters Black Adam and Peacemaker in the rival DCEU, Angle wouldn’t be the first former WWE Champion to make his way to Marvel. Dave Bautista began starring as Drax the Destroyer in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and has reprised the role in several follow-up films. The upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres in theaters on May 5th, and according to the former Batista, will be his last appearance as Drax.

Speaking on the latest edition of The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medalist revealed that he’s made multiple attempts to join Bautista in the MCU, but nothing has come to fruition. He even made contact with Marvel head Kevin Feige after receiving Feige’s contact information from famous nephew-in-law Jon Bernthal, who portrayed The Punisher in the Netflix series of the same name.

“I’ve tried many times. It’s not that easy. I ended up getting [Kevin Feige’s] contact information. I reached out to him and told him that I’d be interested in doing a Marvel movie, and he actually responded to me, but nothing ever came of it. I got it from my nephew-in-law, Jon Bernthal. He actually gave me his contact information. So I talked to him, but unfortunately, nothing has occurred since then.” (h/t Fightful)

Kurt Angle Will Undergo Surgery Soon

Elsewhere on the podcast, Kurt Angle revealed that he is set to undergo another major operation in the next year. He recently underwent a back procedure to help with pain running down his legs, and he says he’s healing well from that.

“Next is my neck surgery. I’m probably going to have fusion next year. Hopefully, that’ll help my body, and eventually, I’ll be able to play with my kids.

“My knees — I’ve been able to come out of that pretty good. So once my back heals, I’ll start being able to play with my kids, throw them around the pool, carry them on my back, doing that kind of stuff. I want to be like a real father to my kids.” (h/t Fightful)
