Iyo Sky Reaches WWE Milestone

Iyo Sky has hit a century as champion.

Following on from a successful cash-in of her Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam 2023, Sky has now held onto the WWE Women’s Championship for 100 days as of November 13th 2023. With previous holders Bianca Belair and Asuka each holding the title for less than 100 days, Sky holds the record for the longest title reign following the rebrand.

Taking into account the previous lineage of the title, which was introduced at WrestleMania 32, the longest singular reign belongs to Belair, who held the title for 419 days before being defeated by Asuka at Night of Champions. This is also not Sky’s longest reign as a singles wrestler, as the Damage CTRL member held the NXT Women’s Title for 304 days, the 5th longest singular reign in the history of the championship.

The rebrand took place shortly afterwards as the Raw and SmackDown titles were on opposite brands and WWE did not want to do a title exchange once again following multiple criticisms from fans and an infamous segment that took place between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch with The Queen going off script.

Iyo Sky Looks To Continue WWE Streak

The closing events of the November 10th episode of SmackDown saw Damage CTRL grow even stronger as Asuka aligned herself with Sky, Bayley, Dakota Kai and Kairi Sane, who recently made her WWE return at Crown Jewel. With Damage CTRL now 5 members strong, this looks to be one team for the upcoming Women’s WarGames match.

If so, this will continue Sky’s streak of competing in every Women’s WarGames match since the stipulation was introduced in the women’s division in 2019 in NXT. Sky competed in the double cage for 3 consecutive years in NXT and in the inaugural match on the main roster in 2022. Dakota Kai has also been in every Women’s WarGames match since its inception but is unlikely to be a part of the 2023 match as she is still recovering from a torn ACL injury.
