WWE Confirms Sami Zayn Is Taking Time Away From TV

WWE Raw star Sami Zayn has been written off of TV for the foreseeable future.

The opening video package of the December 11th edition of Raw recapped Drew McIntyre’s recent rampage on the Monday night show, which included The Scottish Warrior’s attack on Zayn backstage, targeting the leg.

As Jey Uso was in the ring prior to facing McIntyre in the opening match, Uso cut a promo stating that Zayn was out and for him to get well soon. It was later announced by commentary that Zayn was suffering from a partially torn meniscus.

The reason why Zayn will be absent was reported a few days before Raw was broadcast. As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on December 8th, Zayn asked and had been granted time off, but the return date is still unknown:

It looked like they were doing an injury angle with McIntyre and Zayn when McIntyre stomped on Zayn’s bad knee. I don’t have it confirmed Zayn will be off for a while due to that, but do know that he had asked for time off recently and was granted it but wasn’t told when that would begin past he was not scheduled for 12/28 show in Laval, Quebec that would normally be built around him as that was during the scheduled break although it is possible they could have him do that show.

Sami Zayn Hits Major WWE Milestone In 2023

Zayn has had a triumphant 2023 filled with multiple highlights. After expulsion from The Bloodline, the ultimate underdog headlined a Premium Live Event in his hometown of Montreal and would main event WrestleMania for the first time in his career one month later. In Saudi Arabia in November, Sami Zayn would hit another major WWE milestone.
