AEW Dynamite Ratings Plummet Against NBA & MLB Competition

Ric Flair Sting Darby Allin Tony Schiavone on AEW Dynamite

The October 25th episode of AEW Dynamite had some stiff competition, and ratings suffered as a result.

The show was a noteworthy one, with Tony Khan promising ahead of time that he had a surprise gift for Sting. That gift turned out to be none other than Ric Flair, who was welcomed by Tony Schiavone as he had both Sting and Darby Allin in the ring.

Flair made it clear that he wanted to accompany The Icon to the end of his career. Last week, Sting announced that his retirement bout would be taking place at Revolution 2024.

According to Wrestlenomics, the October 25th episode of Dynamite earned a total average viewership of 774,000 viewers, down 14% from last week’s 901,000. The show earned a 0.24 rating in the key 18-49 year old demographic, also down from 0.31 on October 18th.

Dynamite not only faced competition from the NBA, but also from Major League Baseball playoffs.

What Else Happened On AEW Dynamite On October 25th?

In the opening bout of AEW Dynamite, MJF defeated Juice Robinson to retain his Dynamite Diamond Ring. After the match, Bullet Club Gold tried to take out the AEW Champion, but rescue attempts were made by both Roderick Strong and The Kingdom as well as The Acclaimed. MJF accepted Jay White’s challenge for an eight man tag team match next week with the stipulation that if MJF’s team is victorious, White must return the Triple B to its rightful owner.

He was then confronted by Kenny Omega, who issued an AEW World Championship challenge for the upcoming episode of Collision. If MJF is able to retain the title, he’ll cement his place in the record books as longest-reigning AEW Champion, beating the record currently held by Omega.
