Over the last few months, Britt Baker hasn’t appeared on AEW television.
Baker was once a mainstay of the promotion and was seen regularly in matches and promo segments. But this year has seen her onscreen presence limited. For example, Baker has only competed in 19 televised matches in 2023, including pay-per-views.
The former Women’s Champion last competed on Collision back in September, unsuccessfully challenging Kris Statlander for the TBS Championship.
There has been no explanation as to why Baker has been utilised less in the ring and on the mic in the past year. While there is no official reason for her lengthy hiatus, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that Baker’s absence is due to a combination of factors, including an illness, and a lingering back injury.
Meltzer explained that the reason Baker was unable to attend the recent show in her hometown of Pittsburgh was “due to an illness that didn’t allow her to travel.” He further stated that Baker has been dealing with a bad back and is the reason she “hasn’t been around much of late.”

In addition to her health issues, Baker has also expressed frustration with her booking in AEW. In a social media post, she highlighted the amount of promo time that World Champion MJF and TNT Champion Christian Cage were granted on the November 30th edition of Dynamite while pointing out that she had not been given any promo time on the show the entire year.

As well as being a wrestler, Baker is also a practising dentist and has managed to juggle the two professions. However, in a recent interview, she revealed she was stepping away from dentistry to focus on her wrestling career.
