Former WWE Talent Makes Surprise Appearance At ROH Supercard Of Honor

ROH Supercard of Honor looks to kick off WrestleMania weekend in earnest at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

Things got going with a win for Jeff Cobb over Tracy Williams on the pre-show, but there was also another surprise in store. Before Zero Hour was up, Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were joined at the announce desk by Nigel McGuinness.

The British star was released by WWE back in October 2022, ending a six-year spell with the company. During his time with WWE, McGuinness worked as a commentator on both NXT and NXT UK. He later admitted that his departure didn’t come as a surprise given that NXT UK had been put on hiatus and is due to be replaced by NXT Europe.

However, the veteran is best known for his in-ring career, which reached a peak in Ring of Honor. Across two stints with the promotion, McGuinness became ROH World Champion, finding fame with his battles with Bryan Danielson.

The star almost joined WWE in 2009, but a deal fell through due to injury. McGuinness then signed with IMPACT before briefly returning to the UK and ultimately retiring in 2011. After calling time on his in-ring career, he returned to ROH where he served as an announcer from 2011 until joining WWE in 2016.

ROH Supercard Of Honor Dedicated To Jay Brisco

On the Zero Hour pre-show, it was announced that the show will be dedicated to the late Jay Briscoe. The ROH legend sadly lost his life back in January in a car accident.

At Supercard of Honor his brother Mark will look to defeat Samoa Joe and claim the ROH World Television Title. In the main event, Claudio Castagnoli puts the ROH World Championship on the line against Eddie Kingston.
