Supercard of Honor 2023 is officially in the books.

We saw two new champions in Katsuyori Shibata, who claimed the ROH Pure title, and the Lucha Bros who claimed the vacant tag straps. All other champions retained on the night.

Brain Cage’s contractual situation may get some coverage tomorrow after ‘The Machine’ helped retain the six man straps for The Embassy.

There was one unfortunate note, however, as Dante Martin appeared to suffer a gruesome leg injury – everyone at Inside The Ropes wishes Dante a speedy recovery.

Post match, Wheeler Yuta returned to the ring and the BCC looked set to finish Kingston off, only to be interrupted by the new Pure champion, Shibata, who stood tall alongside ‘The Mad King’.

Kingston cut a brief promo in the immediate aftermath where he dished out every expletive under the sun, put over Shibata and Hiroshi Tanahashi, and then finally sent a message to Castagnoli, confirming that the rivalry between the pair was far from over.

Wow, that was close!

A ferocious battle reached a boiling point with Kingston popping a hurricanrana out of nowhere for a long two count.

The champion reversed his weight and rolled Kingston back over for the pin to retain his title.

Yes, this really did happen. Incredible scenes.

It’s time for the main event!

This is a match decades in the making, with the storied rivalry between Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston stretching back to their time on the US independent circuit.

This one promises to be an all-out war!

Holy hell – Shibata sleeps Yuta to win the ROH Pure championship!

This is a remarkable story, given that ‘The Wrestler’ was never supposed to compete again following a brain injury suffered years ago in a match versus Kazuchika Okada.

Now, the New Japan man is firmly back in the mix and with the silverware to prove it – wow!

Wheeler Yuta’s Blackpool Combat Club compatriot Jon Moxley has accompanied his man out to ringside!

As a result, we get to experience a rare outing from New Japan legend Katsuyori Shibata, with the LA Dojo leader keen to add an America championship to his extensive list of accolades.

Just watched the replay and kind of wish I hadn’t.

Dante Martin appeared to suffer a complete leg break following a destroyer from atop the ladder, with the injury looking not dissimilar to the one Sid Vicious suffered all those years ago.

We wish Dante the best and hope he has a speedy recovery.

Next up, it’s the ‘Reach for the Sky’ ladder match for the vacant ROH World tag team titles.

For those wondering, the belts held by the Briscoes have been retired in the late Jay Briscoe’s honour, with new designs set to debut tonight.

In contention are the Lucha Brothers, Top Flight, The Kingdom, Aussie Open and La Facción Ingobernable.

While Garcia was certainly ahead on points, Tanahashi showed his quality in the final third, playing the hits en route to a High Fly Flow for the 1-2-3.

‘The Ace’ was a late, but welcome, addition to the card but when Hiroshi Tanahashi comes calling, which booker would say no?

In the opposing corner is the Jericho Appreciation Society’s Daniel Garcia, with the former ROH Pure champion hoping to get back in the win column in Ring of Honor.

So close and yet so far for Mark Briscoe.

Despite coming within inches of winning his first singles title, Briscoe succumbs to a late coquina clutch from Samoa Joe which forced the referee stoppage.

Briscoe’s quest for singles gold goes on.

Samoa Joe’s tenuous grip on television royalty faces a difficult challenge this evening as Mark Briscoe seeks to earn his first singles strap in his home promotion.

Will the King of Television prevail or will the Cinderella story of Mark Briscoe come to fruition?

The champion keeps hold of her gold after forcing the referee into Sakazaki’s path mid-springboard which in turn allowed ‘The Fallen Goddess’ to hit a modified version of the Eclipse for the win.

Despite being limited to AEW’s YouTube offerings and ROH television, Athena has been a revelation as ROH Women’s World champion, showing hitherto unseen aggression throughout her reign.

Her opponent tonight, Yuka Sakazaki, recently dropped the Princess of Princess championship at Tokyo Joshi Pro’s Grand Princess event and will be on the lookout for more gold here.

One could argue that US fans have yet to see Sakazaki at full strength but with a bit of time to stretch her legs here, this could be just the springboard the Japanese star needs.

The belts stay with The Embassy and interestingly, it was Brian Cage who secured the pinfall for his team.

Maybe ‘The Machine’ isn’t moving on after all?

The ROH World six-man tag titles are up for grabs now, with the high flying ensemble of AR Fox, Blake Christian and Metalik challenging The Embassy’s Brian Cage, Kaun and Toa Liona.

Reports have circulated this week that Cage’s time in the company may be up, and a loss for ‘The Machine’ this evening may all but confirm his departure.

Oh my!

That was some state of the art lucha libre – quite remarkable.

Vikingo takes the win with a crushing 630 splash but both men can be proud of that one.

What on earth follows that?!

Right, who’s ready to have their mind blown?

We kick off the main card with the AAA Mega championship showdown between two of the world’s premier luchadors, El Hijo del Vikingo and Komander.

Both wrestlers have enjoyed status enhancing showcases on AEW television this year and this match could well steal the show this evening.

In the immediate aftermath of Grayson’s victory, Dutch and Vincent, otherwise known as The Righteous, made their return to the promotion.

No hands were thrown but things are certainly heating up in the ROH doubles division.

A fun finale to Zero Hour sees the Dark Order man walk away with the deserved W.

The ageless Slim J looked good here, but it just wasn’t to be.

Stu Grayson made a welcome return to AEW recently and gets the ROH nod here, taking on an original Ring of Honor roster member in The Trustbuster’s Slim J!

Nightingale takes the win with a pppppounce followed by a doctor bomb for the three count.

Credit to Alize though, the ‘Lucha Baddie’ certinaly showed out here.

Miranda Alize has been impressive on ROH television and recent appearances on AEW Dark and Elevation, but will have her work cut out for her here against the always jovial, Willow Nightingale.

Following a decent back and forth encounter, Takeshita rocked Mack with a Blue Thunder Bomb swiftly followed by a stiff running knee for the duke.
