Claudio Castagnoli Gets New Challenger At ROH Death Before Dishonor

Claudio Castagnoli ROH Champion

Claudio Castagnoli will be back in action at ROH Death Before Dishonor with his ROH World Title on the line.

On July 19th, Claudio Castagnoli and PAC were actually teammates as they joined forces with Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita, and Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite to take on The Golden Elite in Blood & Guts. But their union didn’t work out as planned.

During the match, there were a number of miscommunications and Castagnoli accidentally caught the British star with a huge uppercut. PAC didn’t take kindly to the accidental shot and the pair argued before the Bastard flipped him off and cut his way out of the cage.

Shortly after the incident, Don Callis pulled his charge Takeshita out of the match and The Golden Elite got the win.

After the match the issues continued backstage and an irate Castagnoli challenged his rival to step up and face him. Unsurprisingly, PAC was more than happy to take the ROH World Champion up on the offer.

Who Was Claudio Castagnoli Meant To Face?

The road to Claudio Castagnoli vs. PAC hasn’t been a straightforward one. Original creative plans called for Castagnoli to take on Eddie Kingston for a second time but then Kingston required surgery and is currently in Japan taking part in the G1 Climax Tournament.

Next in line was Mark Briscoe. This time the match got as far as being announced, but Briscoe was pulled out a little over a week before Death Before Dishonor due to injury.
