AEW Star Mark Briscoe Suffers Major Injury

Mark Briscoe

AEW and ROH star Mark Briscoe won’t be back in action any time soon.

In recent months, Briscoe has been on the rise in Ring of Honor, but on July 13th, Tony Khan announced that this momentum had come to a halt. The ROH and AEW boss announced on social media that Briscoe wasn’t cleared to wrestle, and his proposed match with Claudio Castagnoli was now off.

This was followed by a report from Fightful Select which noted that Briscoe had suffered a serious knee injury that will likely require surgery.

The tag team legend’s most recent match came on June 29th when he defeated JD Drake and Tony Nese. The match aired on July 6th.

Mark Briscoe To Miss ROH Death Before Dishonor

The injury and likely surgery means that Mark Briscoe will miss ROH Death Before Dishonor where he’d been scheduled to meet Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Title. With Death Before Dishonor set to take place on July 21st, Khan has stated he will address Castagnoli’s challenger in the coming days.

Despite the show being just days away, there is only one other match confined for the show with Samoa Joe slated to defend his World Television Title against an unnamed challenger. A new number one contender will be decided via a tournament. Dalton Castle and Shane Taylor are set to meet in the final.
