On the October 25th edition of AEW Dynamite, Danielson took a brutal Orange Punch from Orange Cassidy followed by a a Rainmaker from Kazuchika Okada. After the double-team, he rolled to the side of the ring clutching his face. Medical officials were seen checking on the star as the show went off the air.

Following Dynamite, Tony Khan provided an update on Danielson to say that he was able to walk out of the arena under his own power.

However, on Collision, Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club teammate Claudio Castagnoli revealed that The American Dragon was indeed injured, having suffered a broken orbital bone that will require surgery. Tony Schiavone noted on commenary that Danielson will require surgery which will leave him out of action for the rest of 2023.

Danielson only returned from a previous injury less than two months ago. The star had broken his arm during a singles match against Okada at Forbidden Door in June, leaving him on the shelf through the following months until he made his return on the September 2nd episode of Collision.

Recently Dave Meltzer speculated whether Bryan Danielson can complete his AEW contract.

Claudio Castagnoli is out to avenge Bryan Danielson

Castagnoli is looking for revenge against both Cassidy and Okada, blaming both for Danielson’s injury.

His first target is Cassidy, and on Collision he issued a challenge for the International Championship on the November 1st edition of Dynamite.

“A broken orbital bone from either an Orange Punch or a Rainmaker. I don’t know, and I don’t care because I’m going to make both of you pay for what you’ve done for my friend. Okada, be it in the Unites States or Japan, I am coming for you. I will find you and I will make you pay.

“Orange, you and me on Wednesday on Dynamite for your International Championship. I know what I’m going to do and what I’m capable of and it frightens me. You hurt one of the Blackpool Combat Club and now I’m going to hurt you. See you on Wednesday. Good luck.”

In a new update, it was revealed that Bryan Danielson’s injury did not take place on AEW Dynamite and was neither the fault of Kazuchika Okada nor Orange Cassidy.

In a new update on November 4th, Danielson appeared to confirm that he would be a part of Wrestle Kingdom 18. However, the original plans for Bryan Danielson in NJPW looked much different.
