Jim Cornette Brands Recent AEW Match “The Fakest Most Embarrassing Thing” In The History Of Wrestling

Jim Cornette

Jim Cornette has some criticisms of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch.

The latest display of sponsorship in wrestling has divided opinions in the wrestling community, with some going as far as to say it was the worst match of the year.

As is the case with the wackier side of professional wrestling, many fans hotly anticipated the next episode of Cornette’s podcast to air so that they can his thoughts on the match itself, Leatherface and if this was another example of “lazy booking.”

Speaking on Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, Cornette believes that Jay Lethal deserves better than this and the match itself was shameful:

So this is one of the fakest most embarrassing things that’s ever been on any wrestling programme television. I’m embarrassed that Jeff Jarrett was involved, that he apparently needs this badly now yet, Jeff, God damn. He started promotions. He’s f*cking been in the business since 1986, 37 years. But he needs a job badly enough to willingly be involved in this and there was one legitimate talent in this entire fiasco, Jay Lethal. And think of the things he could be doing and the matches he could be having in his company. And he’s as hidden as Sonjay Dutt in just one of the merry band of pranksters.

I can believe everybody else in this thought that this was a great thing to do except for Jeff Jarrett and I know Jay Lethal knows that it’s garbage. But he has no other choice.

Warner Brother Discovery Disagress With Jim Cornette

Even though Cornette and many wrestling fans shared their critiques at the Deathmatch, the network that airs AEW programming had a different view. Warner Brother Discovery was reportedly “pleased” with how the match came across on AEW Dynamite.

Jeff Jarrett has also commented on what he thought about the match, stating that he is happy that it got people talking.
