Jim Cornette has continued his praise of Gunther.
On the September 4th episode of Raw, Gunther once again put the Intercontinental Title on the line against Chad Gable. However this time, he did so while standing on the brink of history.
With victory, Gunther would ensure he broke the record for the longest-reigning champion ever, and the dominant star duly delivered. Not for the first time during his reign, the European star and his opponent were praised for their performance in the match by both fans and critics alike.
Speaking on his Jim Cornette Drive Thru podcast, the legendary manager gave his thoughts on the match. Cornette described the action as “excellent” before adding that the champion was a pleasure to watch.
“This was an excellent match and Gunther again, he never has a bad match never does anything he shouldn’t do. His style is perfect for his look. His look is perfect for his style. His basics, his timing, his technique, for me are a pleasure to watch because it’s so rare and unusual anymore, that somebody actually works and looks and acts and moves like a professional wrestler.”
Chad Gable Not Done With Gunther
Speaking in the aftermath of his latest defeat to Gunther, Chad Gable was in a fighting mood. Seemingly spurred on by the giant Austrian making his young daughter cry, Gable swore revenge, claiming that the loss wasn’t the end, before vowing to win the Intercontinental Title.
