Tony Khan Comments On Goldberg Appearing At AEW Forbidden Door

Will Goldberg Appear At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door?

On the June 21st edition of AEW Dynamite, fans saw a multitude of never-seen-before matches added to the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

One such match announced for the show is the historic six-man tag team match between Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevera and Minoru Suzuki against Sting, Darby Allin and a partner of their choosing.

Upon accepting the match Sting and Allin told Jericho they would reveal who their partner is on the June 24th edition of AEW Collision.

The unannounced partner has led to many fans speculating that the face-painted duo will unveil the Goldberg to join their team for the Forbidden Door clash.

The WWE Hall of Famer has been heavily linked with the promotion following his departure from WWE earlier this year.

Will Goldberg Appear At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door?

Since leaving WWE Goldberg has expressed his desire to have a retirement match. Could Forbidden Door be the beginning of his farewell tour? Well, according to Tony Khan, although he would be a great fit for the show, he wants the door remains open for whoever it may be.

Speaking on the Forbidden Door media call about the situation, Khan said:

I have had nice conversations with Bill about being involved with AEW at times. It’s a good thought. I don’t know if it would be the perfect fit for who Sting and Darby are going to bring to Collision this weekend, but I also want to leave all the doors open for them and their partner for Forbidden Door.

It would ideally be somebody that would step in and be a good fit for the Forbidden Door show. Bill Goldberg is a legend in pro wrestling, one of the biggest names in the sport, and I have certainly had nice conversations with him at times.

As for who Sting and Darby bring in this weekend, there have been a lot of guesses, and a lot of them have been more in line with New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s biggest names. Goldberg has gone over and competed in New Japan too. I’ve had nice talks with Bill about doing things with AEW, and that’s probably all I can say.
