WWE Hall Of Famer Makes Bizarre Pitch For Match Between Goldberg And Bret Hart

Bret Hart vs. Goldberg, Starrcade 1999

Bret Hart hasn’t wrestled anything resembling a proper match in more than two decades and has been open about his dislike for Goldberg, yet one veteran wants to see the pair wrestle one more time.

The issues between the two began in late 1999 during a match at Starrcade. In the bout, Goldberg delivered a stiff kick to Hart’s head which gave him a concussion. The Hitman finished the match as planned and it has been suggested that he sustained more damage along the way.

While Hart continued to wrestle for another month to some degree, it was this match against Goldberg which effectively ended his career.

However, while Hart is long retired, his one-time rival is still in search of one last match.

Speaking to Bill Apter for Sportskeeda, Teddy Long suggested that this means the pair should get back in the ring one more time.

“I was just thinking, you know, the person that I’d like to put him with is the person that really helped him along the way, but I don’t know whether Bret wants to get back in the ring. But I’d like to, you know, for him and Bret Hart to have that final thing. I think that will be it because Bret is the guy that could hang. He can hang with Bret. Bret would make him look like a million dollars.”

When it was pointed out that The Hitman blames Goldberg for ending his career, Long claimed this makes the story and potential match “even better.”

“That’s what makes it even better…That’s what makes it even better. Right there. You got a real story. This really happened between these two. So there’s something to settle here. So let’s see what’s gonna happen.”

Goldberg Aiming For One More Match — Just Not With Bret Hart

Despite no longer being under contract with WWE, Goldberg hasn’t given up hope of getting back in the ring. The WWE Hall of Famer has even suggested that he could self-promote a short retirement tour to put a bow on his career on his own terms.

There has also been a great deal of speculation about the star appearing for AEW at All In, something Tony Khan has never fully ruled out.
