Samoa Joe Heralded As A “Real Leader” By AEW Locker Room

Samoa Joe AEW All In entrance

Samoa Joe has impressed those backstage in AEW.

Despite being a huge success, AEW All In has been marred by a backstage altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry. The pair had reportedly crossed words backstage months earlier but things came to a head at Wembley Stadium.

During his match on the pre-show, Perry took a shot at Punk and stories of their earlier disagreement. This sparked some kind of physical confrontation. The details of this altercation change depending on who’s speaking and there are multiple versions in circulation.

The facts are that the incident was physical, and there was some kind of scuffle and Samoa Joe broke things up just as the chaos was getting completely out of hand. Samoa Joe was present when the incident took place as he was due to face Punk in the opening match of the main card. Things were reportedly so bad that the match order almost had to be changed, until Joe managed to get things under control, and the card went off as planned.

Due to his efforts to calm the chaos and get his match with Punk in the ring, Joe has been praised by those backstage.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that one source stated “It kind of brought everyone together and Samoa Joe was a real leader.”

What Next For Samoa Joe?

Back in the ring, Samoa Joe lost out to CM Punk and failed to win the “Real” World Championship. With Punk and Jack Perry currently suspended, Joe is moving on to other challenges. The Samoan Submission Machine will be back in action at All Out when he defends his ROH World Television Title against Shane Taylor.
