Thunder Rosa Expected Back In AEW “Very Shortly”

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa is reported to be returning to the promotion in the very near future.

Rosa has been out of action for over a year with a back injury, last competing back in August 2022. As a direct result, Rosa was forced to vacate the AEW Women’s World title, ending her near-six-month reign with the belt prematurely.

Last month, it was reported that Thunder Rosa was ready to return to the promotion at “any time” and was simply awaiting creative plans. Now, it seems as though the creative gears for her return are finally beginning to turn.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Dave Meltzer noted that Rosa is expected to be back in AEW “very shortly”. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also added to the report in a post to X, stating that “she’s been ready for quite some time.”

Rosa has been backstage at AEW events recently, as she herself showcased in her latest YouTube vlog, and continues to serve as an announcer for AEW’s Spanish commentary team – a role she has maintained since February earlier this year.

When Did Thunder Rosa Last Wrestle In AEW?

Thunder Rosa last competed on August 10th, 2022 during the taping for the August 15th edition of AEW Dark: Elevation. Rosa teamed with then-regular tag partner Toni Storm as well as Hikaru Shida against Emi Sakura, Marina Shafir, and Nyla Rose.

Just five days prior to that match, Rosa defended the AEW Women’s World Championship against Jamie Hayter at AEW Battle Of The Belts III. This marked her sixth and final defence of the title before being forced to vacate it due to her injury.
