WWE Loses Trademark Battle; Merchandise To Be Discontinued

WWE Superstar Jey Uso will have to make changes to his character as a result of a failed trademark.

Multiple Superstars have been able to get the crowd to pop by saying a single word. Steve Austin had “What?” Farooq had “Damn” and LA Knight has “Yeah.” As seen in recent months, Uso frequently used “Yeet” in his promos, much to the delight of the fans. However, it appears that the popular chant will not be uttered by the man himself anymore.

A video package was played to promote Uso’s upcoming match against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins during the December 4th broadcast of Raw. Fans noticed that during an archive clip of the promo package “Yeet” was blurred out:

As reported by WrestleVotes, the reason for this is that the company has run into trademark issues when attempting to license the word. As a result, there will not be any new merchandise produced with the catchphrase:

As evident on RAW just now, I’m told WWE has found trademark issues with Jey Uso’s “Yeet.” The word & merchandising will no longer be associated with Uso going forward.

Uso did not compete in the “Yeet” shirt, instead opting to wear the “Main Event” shirt for the title match. It should also be noted that despite the crowd in Albany, New York chanting “Yeet” in the match, commentary did not acknowledge the chant. The “Yeet” shirt is still available to purchase but with limited size options. It appears extremely unlikely that the shirt will be restocked.

Did Jey Uso Win The World Heavyweight Championship On WWE Raw?

Despite putting in a valiant effort, Uso was unable to dethrone The Visionary. Unfortunately, Uso’s night would go from bad to worse after the bell, as he was driven through the announce table by an irate Drew McIntyre.
