Cody Rhodes Comments On The Family Legacy Continuing; Compares It To His Own WWE Journey

Cody Rhodes has revealed if he would let his daughter wrestle if that was a career that she wanted to pursue.

Multi-generational wrestlers are as common today as spears and superkicks with present and future stars such as Charlotte Flair, Dominik Mysterio and Bron Breakker all being known for their famous fathers as much as their own in-ring accomplishments.

Speaking with Gabby AF, The American Nightmare was asked about his thoughts on daughter Liberty possibly wanting to train to become a professional wrestler. Rhodes stated that it is a wait-and-see situation but did hypothetically say that he would support anyone who wanted to try:

“I think it’s one of those maybe cross that bridge when we get there, if we get there. It’s one thing when I’m talking about Liberty and I’m thinking about her. It’s another thing if it was hypothetical, ‘Hey, your son or daughter wants to get into the industry.’ I would, of course, say ‘go for it.’ It’s the greatest thing ever. For me, I’ve had such a charmed life and been so blessed. I was just in Germany with almost 12,000 people attached to this match I’m having, and what’s going on.

Rhodes is, of course, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes. Addressing the additional pressure that he faced due to his legendary father, Rhodes was very aware that he would not be allowed to put on a subpar performance:

Especially now with the business becoming as popular as it’s cooking up to be, I couldn’t with a straight face be like, ‘Ah, no. You don’t want to try that.’ I think, if anything though, I’d have to look at it from the perspective that my dad did. My dad knew that, because of his presence in the industry, that they really wouldn’t accept anything less than the best.”

Cody Rhodes Compares Past & Present WWE Runs

Rhodes was first a part of the main roster from July 2007 until 2016, when he asked for his release as a result of creative frustrations over the Stardust character. The American Nightmare would become one of the biggest names on the independent scene before helping to create AEW in 2019 before eventually returning to WWE in 2022 at WrestleMania 38.

In a separate interview, Cody Rhodes revealed why his first run and current runs in WWE don’t read the same way as he compared and contrasted his stints in the company.
