King Kong Bundy didn’t hold back his opinions on Bret Hart‘s WWE Championship reign, referring to him as a “Horrible world champion.”
In an interview with Vince Russo, Bundy expressed his belief that wrestlers like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were responsible for the downfall of the wrestling business, claiming they didn’t possess the physical presence of grown men.
Bundy went on to criticise Hart’s ego, stating that it was out of control. According to Bundy, Hart appeared like a little kid in the wrestling ring, lacking the stature expected from a world champion. He further mentioned that he had once been friends with Hart and even stayed at his house.
Reflecting on his sentiments, Bundy said:
The advent on the downfall of this business was champions like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Horrible world champions. Did not look like grown men in my opinion.
He also mentioned reading Hart’s book and being astonished by the extent of his ego. Bundy revealed that he used to call Hart the “little hitter” due to his diminutive appearance in the ring.
Is Bret Hart Signed To AEW?
While he has made appearances for the company, AEW turned down the opportunity to hire Bret Hart as an agent. According to Hart, he offered AEW the chance to hire him as an agent but they instead just wanted him to appear as an on-screen character only.
