Jake Roberts Shocking Revelation Why Hulk Hogan Refused To Wrestle Him On TV

WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts revealed the shocking reason why a planned main event program between himself and Hulk Hogan was abruptly cancelled.

In an exclusive interview with WrestlingNewsCo, Jake Roberts disclosed that a segment was filmed in Tucson, Arizona, where he executed his renowned finishing move, the DDT, on Hogan, with the expectation that the audience would rally behind Hogan for retribution. However, to everyone’s surprise, when Hogan rose to his feet, the crowd erupted into chants of “DDT! DDT!” for Roberts instead of showing support for Hogan.

This unexpected turn of events led Vince McMahon to scrap the proposed program between Hogan and Roberts, as the WWE didn’t want the villainous Roberts to receive a more favourable reaction than the beloved Hogan. Roberts expressed his frustration during the interview, stating:

It was filmed in Tucson, Arizona. And we did it on the snake pit. But the crowd wouldn’t cooperate. Because after I’d DDT’d him, we went back to the back to hear him come up to his feet rip his shirt off, beat his chest, and come looking for Jake The Snake. But the people started chanting DDT, DDT, and Vince said, we can’t have that. So, therefore, it was nixed.

Roberts further explained that they showed the segment in two different markets and that the shows sold out as a result, but due to the fans being split between Hogan and Roberts McMahon didn’t want to continue with the program.

We actually showed that in two markets, one market being Providence, Rhode Island, and the other one being in Montreal, and we sold out both places. But the fans were split 50/50. And Vince couldn’t have that.

What Did Jake Roberts Say About Bret Hart?

In a different interview, Jake Roberts branded Bret Hart as dull and said Shawn Michaels is the better performer and that Hart’s promo skills aren’t up to par.
