It has been revealed that an AEW star will be heading to Pro Wrestling Noah in January to tag with Sting and The Great Muta in the legendary Japanese wrestler’s retirement match.

Earlier this year, The Great Muta, also known as Keiji Muto, announced his intentions to retire from professional wrestling in 2023 and is currently embarking on a retirement tour. His final match is scheduled to take place on 22nd January at the Yokohama Arena in Japan.

At AEW’s Rampage Grand Slam in September, Muta made a shocking appearance by coming to the aid of his former rival Sting and Darby Allin during the duos ‘No Disqualification’ match against the House Of Black.

It was then revealed after the bout that Sting will team with Muta for his retirement match next year.

Darby Allin Added To Great Muta’s Retirement Match

Last month, Sting spoke of his excitement about being involved in Muta’s last match and revealed his desire to get his AEW tag team partner Darby Allin to join him in Japan for the bout.

He told Sports Illustrated:

“I’m trying to get Darby Allin to come with me. It’s such an honour, especially since that will be his last night as The Great Muta character.”

It has now been officially announced by Pro Wrestling Noah that Allin will indeed be teaming with Sting and Muta on January 22nd, with the trio’s opponents to be announced at a later date. The bout will see Sting compete in Japan for the first time since 1996 and will mark Allin’s pro-wrestling debut in the land of the rising sun.

The retirement show is named ‘Great Muta Final Bye Bye’ and will be available to stream on Fite TV.

As part of his retirement tour, Muta will also be facing WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura at Pro Wrestling Noah’s ‘The New Year 2023’ event on January 1st 2023.
