AEW Veteran Admits There Is No Schedule For Retirement

Billy Gunn has admitted that he has no immediate plans for retirement from AEW.

In the world of professional wrestling, age is often seen as a limiting factor, but Billy Gunn is defying all expectations. At 60 years old, Gunn is not only the oldest champion in AEW, but he continues to deliver performances that rival those of wrestlers decades younger than him.

Gunn, known for his tag team expertise, has impressed fans with his athleticism and in-ring skills. When asked about his secret to staying at the top of his game on the A2TheK Wrestling show, Gunn humbly admitted that there is no magic formula. Instead, he credits his focus on staying healthy and taking care of his body.

I wish I had one, I wish I had a secret I can tell. It’s just, the last [year] I just focus more on staying healthy.

Unlike some wrestlers who engage in risky stunts, Gunn has been fortunate to avoid any major injuries throughout his career. While the wear and tear of constant bumps takes its toll, Gunn emphasises the importance of proper training and nutrition in maintaining his performance level.

Other than bumping a lot which, yeah it has it’s wear and tear, but I just really focus a lot on my training and my food and all that.

Despite his remarkable achievements, Gunn remains humble about his future in wrestling. He doesn’t believe in setting retirement dates or planning too far ahead. Instead, he listens to his body and wrestles as long as he feels capable and happy doing so.

I don’t really look at things like that. It’ll just be when it’s right. When it’s done, it’s done. There’s no time schedule, I can’t go ‘Hey, All In in London next year will be [my last match]. My brain doesn’t function like that. My brain and me tell my body I can wrestle until I want to.

Gunn’s most recent match on November 4th saw him and his team, The Acclaimed, successfully defend the AEW Trios Championships against Dalton Castle and his boys.
