The Bizarre Way A Tottenham Hotspur Match Influenced AEW PPV Name

Tony Khan credits the UK with inspiring an upcoming AEW pay-per-view.

The United Kingdom means a lot to Khan due to the passionate wrestling fanbase, which was shown by the debut European show. In August 2023, All Elite Wrestling would finally travel across the pond to present All In at Wembley Stadium, the first time that the promotion hosted a show outside of North America and would see over 81,000 people attend the event.

Khan makes regular appearances in London as he is a part owner of Fulham Football Club. While travelling to a match between Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, Khan found inspiration for a pay-pr-view name in the same place as many Brits find inspiration, their local.

While speaking with The Athletic, Khan revealed that the name for the December pay-per-view World’s End was inspired by a London pub:

“Like most of the best ideas I’ve had, including AEW, it was made in London. I was on my way to the Tottenham Hotspur versus Fulham match at Tottenham,” he said. “I’m looking for a name for the pay-per-view. We passed by the World’s End (pub) and I thought, ‘That’s it.'”

AEW Set To Debut Worlds End

Rounding out the year in wrestling, Worlds End will take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York on Saturday, December 30. The main event of the show will see a rematch from Grand Slam take place as MJF will defend the World Championship against Samoa Joe. If successful, MJF will have held the title for all of 2023.

Also confirmed for the pay-per-view is the finals of the Continental Classic tournament, the first round-robin tournament to take place within the promotion.
