Samoa Joe Has No Intentions Of Retiring Anytime Soon: “I Feel Good Right Now”

Samoa Joe Has No Intentions Of Retiring Anytime Soon:

Samoa Joe has every intention of continuing to wrestle for the next few years and maybe more.

During his time in WWE, the in-ring future of Joe looked uncertain. Sadly hit with multiple injuries, the former WWE star was predominantly seen behind the commentary desk on Monday Night Raw towards the end of his run before being released for the first time in April 2021. Following a brief return in June to dethrone NXT Champion Karrion Kross, Joe dropped the title and was released for a second time in January 2022.

Waiting out his 90-day no-compete, Joe made his shock return to Ring of Honor in April 2022 before being announced as All Elite shortly afterwards. Returning as the vicious Samoan Submission Machine that fans know and love, many were reminded of the Joe of previous ROH and TNA. However, now at 44 years of age, having dealt with multiple injuries and recently taking acting roles, is the AEW star considering in-ring retirement?

Joe was asked about the possibility of wrestling until he physically can’t do it anymore while speaking with Adrian Hernandez. The former TNT Champion stated that while he intends to stop before that point, right now he can see himself wrestling for many years into the future:

“I’ll probably stop well before then. I’ve been really, really fortunate. When I came off the concussion, I took two years off to really get everything back into order, and in that time too, just in the recovery process, really changed a lot around in my training and changed a lot of things around that have benefited me to a great amount health-wise. I feel good right now.

As far as where the train will end, I’ll let it play out a little bit more. But I will say this, I definitely have more than a handful of good years left in me. Beyond that, I’m excited…if we are gonna out, we’re gonna go out with a bang. So it’ll be interesting to see how these next few years play out,”

In a separate interview, Samoa Joe compared the spectacle of a live wrestling show to a Taylor Swift concert.

Samoa Joe Looks To Reach The Top Of The AEW Mountain

Having won the top championship in ROH, NXT and TNA, Joe hopes to add the AEW World Championship to his long list of accolades. On Saturday, December 30th, Joe will challenge MJF for the Triple B at Worlds End. When discussing the upcoming match, Samoa Joe stated that he intends to pummel MJF until the champion begs him to stop.
