Kurt Angle: AEW and WWE “Don’t Have The Talent That We Had in The Attitude Era”

Kurt Angle WWE AEW

Multiple-time World Champion Kurt Angle has not been able to draw comparison between modern-day AEW & WWE wrestlers to the stars of the Attitude Era.

In an interview with Greg Rume, Kurt Angle spoke on the differences between wrestlers in 2023 and the wrestlers of the late 90s.

“Both companies [AEW and WWE] have a lot of talent right now. I wouldn’t say they have the talent that we had back in the Attitude Era.”

“Back then, everybody was a superstar. Lower card guys, middle card guys, the Godfather, Val Venis, Bob Holly, guys that were midcard and opening card guys were huge stars.”

“Now, there are five or six top guys in the company that everyone knows and everyone else is not as recognized. Back then, we had a special group of guys.”

“Don’t get me wrong, the guys today, they are much more athletic and do a lot more crazy stuff, more flips and acrobatic stunts.”

“Hopefully, they’ll hone that in and come back to the way wrestling was where you have wrestling moves and stuff like that, not just stunts.

“I think everyone is doing a good job today in WWE and AEW.”

Kurt Angle appeared on the show to promote his new career documentary, “Angle,” which is now showing on the WWE Network.

Kurt Angle’s Favourite Non-WWE Wrestler

In a recent edition of his podcast, “The Kurt Angle Show,” Kurt Angle picked an AEW performer as his favourite non-WWE wrestler.

The answer was revealed during an “Ask Kurt Anything” episode, where fans were given the opportunity to ask the Olympic Gold Medalist whatever they wanted.
