The Rock Raises An Emotional Toast To Absent Friends

The Rock Thumb

‘The People’s Champion’ The Rock, has raised an emotional toast to his father Rocky Johnson and the late, great Pat Patterson who both passed away in 2020.

As the year draws to its conclusion, its a time to reflect and look back on a year that no one saw coming. A time to remember those who have left us and a time to celebrate new beginnings.

That is exactly what Dwayne Johnson has done in a new Instagram post remembering his father and the inaugural WWF Intercontinental Champion who he referred to as the anchoring factor that set him on the path to greatness:

Been reconciling his death for a few weeks nowThis past January my father dies unexpectedly and a few weeks ago my father figure dies unexpectedly too.

F’n 2020.

We all have those defining moments and people in our lives where when we look back and connect all the dots….
that decision or that person was the anchoring factor that set us on that path to where we are today.

Pat Patterson was that person to me.

This toast is for you Pat..
I love you. I thank you.

Now let’s hear, MY WAY one more time..

At the end of this video when Pat is singing MY WAY to all our beloved wrestling legends – many of whom are now in heaven raising hell… That visual kicked me in the gut.
Very emotional.
As if Pats up there in heaven singing to all of them right now.
My dad included.

See you boys down the road

Recently, The Rock has ruled out the much talked about battle with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 in March 2021 and will be seen next in the upcoming Disney theatrical release, Jungle Cruise, next year.

Rocky Johnson passed away on January 15, 2020, after suffering from a pulmonary embolism which stemmed from deep vein thrombosis.

Pat Patterson passed away on December 2, 2020, after a long battle with cancer and dementia. His official cause of death was ruled as liver failure.
