Jim Ross – “Chris Jericho Could Easily Slide Into [Commentary]”

Chris Jericho On Commentary

Jim Ross has discussed the possibility of Chris Jericho sliding into a commentary role with All Elite Wrestling at some point in the future.

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross had discussed his time on commentary with WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes in WCW. Following on from that discussion Ross explained why he could see Jericho making a similar switch to Rhodes, from ring to announce desk in the future.

Jim Ross explains:

“Chris Jericho right now. Chris Jericho could easily slide into a seat and be as good a colour commentator as in the business. Period. But he’s preparing for that to some degree. What are you gonna do in wrestling if you wanna be in wrestling after you’ve stopped wrestling? So if you want those cheques to keep coming, what other skills can you bring to the table? Well, you can damn sure be a broadcaster and TV shows gotta have broadcasters. The wrestlers need a soundtrack and that’s what we’re supposed to be doing.”

Chris Jericho has appeared multiple times as a commentator for AEW. Early in the pandemic era of television tapings, Jericho would join Tony Schiavone at the announce desk. The duo would receive critical acclaim and this has seen Jericho join the commentary team on more than a few occasions since.

Chris Jericho is currently the number one contender along with tag team partner, MJF for the AEW Tag Team Championships. The Inner Circle pair will compete for those titles at the upcoming AEW Revolution show on Sunday, March 7th. Current champions The Young Bucks successfully defended those titles against Jericho’s Inner Circle stablemates Sanatana and Ortiz on AEW Dynamite.

As ever, ‘Good Ol’ JR’ Jim Ross discussed a wide variety of topics throughout his show. Including why he felt the booking in early nineties WCW was often rushed.
