Goldberg On Vince – “We’ve Gotten Closer Than We Ever Imagined”

Goldberg

Goldberg has opened up about his relationship with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, saying that the two have become friends over the years.

Goldberg was a standout of WWE’s chief rival World Championship Wrestling during the Monday Night Wars of the late nineties. The former 2-time WCW Champion came to WWE in 2003, following WCW’s demise two years prior.

Speaking on the new WWE Network documentary ‘Goldberg At 54,’ the WWE Hall of Famer revealed the state of the relationship between himself and Vince McMahon.

Goldberg explained:

“I’ve learned a lot more about Vince this time around. We’ve gotten much closer than we ever would have imagined we could have been back in the day.”

Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016, 12 years after his first run with the company ended. He shocked the world when he defeated Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016 in a little over one minute. The 2-time WWE Universal Champion would discuss how since coming back to WWE, he’s been able to forge a friendship with McMahon:

“My first run with Vince wasn’t the most amicable relationship by any stretch of the imagination but I would say that wasn’t Vince alone, that was me versus everybody. I came in the door with my back against it. It’s just been a weird trip. Then coming back, and then getting to be actual friends with Vince, it’s been a wonderful experience and I would have done it just for that alone.”

“It’s just a different feeling. It was like doing something for your Dad, in a very respectful way. I never imagined I’d have that feeling for him, whatsoever.”
