Bianca Belair Says It Just Felt Right To Pick Sasha Banks

Biana Belair

Bianca Belair has revealed the reason she chose Sasha Banks following her announcement to challenge The Boss at WrestleMania 37.

Belair is ready to make history, the SmackDown Women’s Championship bout will be the first in which two African-American women headline a WrestleMania event.

This week on Talking Smack, Belair explained to the panel of Paul Heyman and Charly Caruso why she chose Banks as her opponent instead of the RAW Women’s Champion Asuka.

You know, choosing Asuka, you know, she is a great champion on Raw, the ’empress of tomorrow’, the empress of everyday, but the choice just felt so right to pick Sasha Banks.

She is ‘The Boss,’ she is ‘The Standard,’ and what other way to make WrestleMania even bigger.

Me choosing Sasha Banks tonight and [being the] first two African-American women headlining WrestleMania, we just made WrestleMania bigger. It’s going to be a magical, magical night.

To be going to WrestleMania and facing Sasha Banks, standing in the ring with Sasha Banks, you know just making that decision tonight just made it so real for me.

I don’t know if people could tell, but I was shaking in the ring because of how excited I was!

Belair revealed that Banks has always been on her radar since she arrived in the WWE back in 2016. Sasha’s success so far as one of the Four Horsewomen of WWE inspires and motivates Bianca to succeed – There’s no hate, just healthy competition in store.

Every since I walked into the Performance Center when I first started in NXT, she was on my map as one of the Four Horsewomen.

Everything that she has accomplished, the barriers she has broken, I see everything she’s doing. And I’m not jealous because, to me, that’s inspiring. She motivates me.

If she calls herself the best, and If I want to be the best, I have to get into the ring with the best.

I love Sasha Banks, she’s my girl, everything she’s done, but there’s a new kid on the block and I’m here to prove myself.

Interestingly, following Bianca’s exit from the Talking Smack panel, Paul Heyman had some choice words for the EST of WWE.

There’s nothing really left for me to say to her [Bianca], except for this… She’s gonna face, one of, if not THE greatest SmackDown Women’s Champions ever, in Sasha Banks.

I’ve already spoken to her as a challenger, I look forward to speaking to her as a Champion – on the first Talking Smack after WrestleMania.

She’s….Bianca Belair is the future of the Women’s Division.

Strong words from Heyman, words were sure Bianca Belair is ready to back up when she faces Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37 in Tampa, Florida on the 10/11 April.
