Al Snow Reveals The Incredible Story Of How He Got Head

Al Snow

WWE and ECW legend Al Snow has recalled the incredible story of how he got Head.

Former WWF European Champion Al Snow was rarely seen without his inanimate mannequin friend Head for most of his career, but what exactly are the origins of the iconic partnership?

Well, speaking with Al Snow for his 20 Questions feature in Issue 19 of Inside The Ropes Magazine, which you can pre-order here, Inside The Ropes’ Lead Writer Gary Cassidy stumbled upon the story when asking the ECW legend what the best present he’s ever received was.

“That would have had to have been Head.”

Al Snow then went on to reveal how he had to keep replacing the prototype for Head in ECW, before two of his locker room peers gifted him a more permanent version.

“You know, I started doing the gimmick in ECW and then one night… Because I had Styrofoam Head. They were Styrofoam, but they had a plastic face on them and the plastic was real thin, so the plastic face would get broken and I’d have to keep replacing them. And we were in New Britain, Connecticut and fans used to bring weapons to put in a barrel for New Jack to use during the match.

“Mikey Whipwreck and Spike Dudley came up to me there in New Britain and go, ‘Hey, Al, you’re here, here’s what you need, man, here’s what you need.’

Snow went on to reveal how it was love at first sight when he was first given Head.

“They brought me the beautician’s mannequin Head and I wrote, ‘Help me’ on the forehead and the minute our eyes met, it was true love.”

“Like, I could see it, they could see it and we were connected and we’d been together ever since. And quite honestly, like, that’s probably been one of
the best gifts I’ve ever gotten because it changed the trajectory of my career.”
