Exclusive: Rob Van Dam Reveals How AEW Collision Appearance Came About

Rob Van Dam With Jack Perry

Rob Van Dam is returning to AEW this weekend and it all came together very quickly.

In an Inside The Ropes exclusive courtesy of the “1 Of A Kind With RVD” podcast, Rob Van Dam revealed on the latest episode that his forthcoming Collison appearance came about via phone call last weekend.

“I was at the Hamburg [Pennsylvania] Legends convention on a Saturday and got a message from AEW asking if I could do. September 23rd in Grand Rapids, Michigan.”

Before this appearance was set to take place, Van Dam confirmed that he previously spoke to Tony Khan about coming back for another appearance after his debut match against Jack Perry, but the two parties never solidified anything. Van Dam later reiterated that on social media, stating that sometimes this is how quickly the wrestling business moves. RVD added that he thinks that Grand Rapids may have been on AEW’s annual schedule because it was last year around this time when Tony Khan first spoke to Van Dam about coming into AEW.

“The first time they reached out to me and asked if I could do September 5th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. And that was the first time, but I talked to them, specifically that time it was Tony.”

Rob Van Dam Will Be Returning To Michigan A Week Later To Face A AEW Star

Rob Van Dam confirmed on the episode that the plan is for him to wrestle on Collision and just a week later he’ll be back to do the same in his hometown of Battle Creek, MI for an independent event called “The Whole Dam Show.” There, RVD will battle against AEW’s Brian Cage in singles action.
