AEW Considering Moving To 12 Pay-Per-Views A Year

All Elite Wrestling may be expanding its pay-per-view schedule to 12 events a year, according to recent reports.

According to a report from Fightful Select, AEW and WBD are deep into their negotiations to extend their deal. However, this could come with a big change, sources from Warner Bros Discovery have confirmed that a major proposal to AEW relates to an expansion of the company’s pay-per-view events.

AEW President Tony Khan spoke about the potential for more PPVs at a media call ahead of Double or Nothing. While he did not confirm the rumoured 12 PPVs a year, he did mention that there was potential for more events in the future. AEW currently holds four PPV events a year, with Double or Nothing, All Out, Full Gear, and Revolution.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the possibility of the company expanding its PPV schedule, Meltzer said:

“I think five is too little, I think eight is probably the best number, you could do twelve, if they were still doing three hours of TV a week, I think that would argue for twelve. It’s not a done deal right now, but it could happen, they do need more PPVs I think.”

What AEW Pay-Per-Views Have Happened This Year?

At time of writing there have been three AEW PPV events in 2023, Revolution on March 5th, Double or Nothing on May 28th, and Forbidden Door on June 25th. All of these recent PPV offerings have been praised by fans and have been considered to be a success by the company.

Upcoming events scheduled include All In on August 27th in the UK and All Out on September 3rd.
