KENTA Makes Shock Appearance On AEW Beach Break

KENTA standing over Jon Moxley during AEW Beach Break

The ‘Forbidden Door’ may well have been blown wide open after KENTA shocked the wrestling world with his AEW debut in the closing moments of Beach Break!

After a gruelling main event which saw Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers pick up a win over Jon Moxley, PAC and Rey Fenix, the victors would go on to attack Fenix after the bell. Lance Archer would chase off The Good Brothers, leaving Moxley in the ring alone with Omega before a masked individual blindsided the former AEW World Champion from out of nowhere.

The figure would remove his mask and reveal himself as none other than NJPW’s KENTA, the current holder of the IWGP US Heavyweight Right To Challenge briefcase! KENTA would lay out Moxley with a Go 2 Sleep before exiting the ring, allowing ‘The Cleaner’ to stand tall over the IWGP United States Champion to close the show.

In a social media exclusive shortly after Beach Break’s conclusion, Omega would receive a frosty reception from the Bullet Club member before issuing a challenge – suggesting he and KENTA team up on next week’s Dynamite!

KENTA has built up a significant rivalry with Jon Moxley since receiving the IWGP US Heavyweight Right To Challenge briefcase through winning the 2020 New Japan Cup USA. With Moxley unable to compete for New Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KENTA defended the briefcase against the likes of Jeff Cobb, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Satoshi Kojima before finally coming face-to-face with the champion on NJPW Strong last month.

The two are set to finally collide later this month where KENTA will get his opportunity to dethrone Moxley and end his near-400 day reign with the belt – the longest by far in the championship’s history. This will be Moxley’s first defence of the title in over a year after his last successful retention came over Minoru Suzuki at New Beginning in Osaka in Febuary 2020.
