Brock Lesnar To Challenge For The WWE Championship At Day 1

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar will attempt to become WWE Champion after being added to the Fatal-Four-Way match for the WWE Title at Day 1.

Following the news that Roman Reigns has tested positive for COVID-19, Brock Lesnar will now have not one, but four new opponents at WWE Day 1.

Just hours before the show is set to begin in Atlanta, Universal Champion Roman Reigns took to social media to confirm that he would be unable to perform at the event. In a short statement, Reigns stated that he hoped to be back in action soon.

“I yearn to perform tonight at #WWEDay1 to defend my Universal Championship. However, unfortunately, earlier today I tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the proper protocols I am unable to compete as originally scheduled. I look forward to returning to action as soon as possible.”

With Reigns absent this means that Brock Lesnar was very briefly without an opponent, with his bid to win the Universal Championship now taken out of his hands. However, WWE acted quickly in setting The Beast a new challenge, adding him to the already huge bout for the WWE Championship.

Lesnar will now be looking to overcome Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and current title holder Big E.

Ahead of the event much of the speculation had been around Seth Rollins’ involvement after he confirmed that he had also returned a positive test. At time of writing there is no suggestion that Rollins will be missing the show.
