Roman Reigns Breaks Brock Lesnar’s Incredible WWE Record

Roman Reigns attacks Brock Lesnar with title belt

Roman Reigns has now officially smashed a WWE Universal Championship record previously set by Brock Lesnar.

Recently, Roman Reigns reached a significant milestone in his current WWE Universal Championship reign when he reached 500 days as the title-holder.

Hot on the heels of this achievement, the ‘Tribal Chief’ has now eclipsed Brock Lesnar to become the longest-reigning Universal Champion in the history of the title.

Lesnar previously set the record after he captured the gold from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 and decimated everyone in his path for 503 days before finally falling to Reigns himself at SummerSlam 2018.

As of January 16th, ‘The Head of the Table’ has held the Universal Championship for 504 days in a reign that shows no signs of ending anytime soon.

Since overcoming ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman at Payback in 2020, Reigns has conquered all before him, including some of the biggest names in recent WWE history.

He has racked up an astonishing 18 title defences in that period against 11 different opponents, across multiple continents.

The ‘Needle Mover’s most recent defence came against Sami Zayn on the December 3rd episode of SmackDown, but it was merely a formality after Brock Lesnar had decimated the challenger. His last real defence came against Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in October via a little bit of help from the Usos.

While Reigns was scheduled to defend his title against Lesnar once again at Day 1 on January 1st, the match was cancelled after he tested positive for COVID-19. In Reigns’ absence, Lesnar was added to the WWE Championship match, which he promptly won.

With Lesnar now out of the picture, at least for now, it has been announced that Reigns will defend his title against Seth Freakin’ Rollins at the Royal Rumble. Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley.
