The Rock - Dwayne Johnson

WWE icon and Hollywood megastar The Rock has responded publicly following several WWE Superstars donning The Great One’s gear in tribute to the star.

WWE United States Champion Damian Priest joined current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Rhea Ripley, Raw Tag Team Champion Riddle, The New Day, and Queen Zelina in paying tribute to The People’s Champ during what has been dubbed ‘Rock Month’ by WWE.

Dwayne Johnson was just 24 years old when he made his WWE debut inside the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden at 1996’s edition of Survivor Series. Then known as Rocky Maivia, the star teamed with Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, ‘The Stalker’ Barry Windham, and Marc Mero to defeat Crush, Goldust, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and Hunter Hearst-Helmsley with Maivia winning as his team’s sole survivor.

This November marks The Rock’s 25th anniversary of the beginning of his WWE career and the company is going all out to pay tribute to one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time.

WWE released a video of the current crop of WWE Superstars dressing up as The Rock and discussing his WWE career as well as promoting his upcoming movie, Red Notice.

The Rock then responded to the video on social media, saying he appreciated the effort that had been gone to:

“This was so f*cking cool to watch!! Trust me, I KNOW 100% how batsh*t crazy busy your work days are at the venues so I appreciate this effort!! Love U guys, keep your heads on a swivel & keep movinโ€™ the crowd!”

The Rock recently discussed rumoured plans to return to the wrestling ring including his thoughts on a possible showdown with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
