Cody Rhodes Says Wardlow Is “Money In The Bank”

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has heaped praise on rising AEW competitor, and Inner Circle member, Wardlow, marking him out as a potential superstar of the future.

Speaking on a media call relating to the upcoming AEW Revolution event, Cody was asked about developing younger stars in the company. Rhodes would reference former WCW and Mid-South booker Bill Watts. Watts would often look past the wrestling world to try and create new stars.

Rhodes answered:

“Bill Watts was the master at finding men and women from other walks of life. Whether that be from basketball, baseball, gymnasts, things of that nature. You’re gonna have to look beyond just wrestling schools. We do that at the Nightmare Factory [Cody’s wrestling school]. It’s one of my favourite things to get a look at people.

I’ll tell you one of the people we took a look at was Wardlow and that guy’s money in the bank. I mean that guy’s absolute money in the bank. And he’s young, and he’s hungry, he just borrowed my Bret Hart book. I hope we can continue to make stars.”

Wardlow has impressed since debuting in All Elite Wrestling at the side of MJF in November 2019. He would make his in-ring debut in February 2020 against Cody in a steel cage match. Rhodes would win that bout after hitting Wardlow with an iconic moonsault from the top of the cage.

Cody Rhodes would also discuss the rumours of WWE moving NXT to Tuesday nights, theoretically leaving AEW Dynamite unopposed by wrestling on Wednesday nights.
