MJF Recalls “The Slam That Shook Seattle” At AEW WrestleDream

MJF celebrates in the ring at AEW WrestleDream against The Righteous

MJF has taken to social media to celebrate his unbelievable feat of strength.

One of the most iconic moments in wrestling history saw Hulk Hogan slam Andre The Giant at WrestleMania 3 in front of 78,000 people inside The Pontiac Silverdome. Channelling his inner Hogan, the AEW World Champion now has his own legendary slam that will no doubt be played on video packages for decades to come.

Posting the photo of himself slamming Dutch from The Righteous, The Devil captioned the moment by revealing that he was able to continue the match afterwards despite breaking multiple bones thanks to the support of a Mania-sized crowd:

The Slam that Shook Seattle. I’ll never forget that night, Brother. I fractured every single one of my vertebrae bodyslaming dirty Dutch. Still won the match though, in front of 70,000 strong. -MJF

Prior to the match beginning, MJF revealed that he would bodyslam Dutch and then shove Vincent’s face into the rear end of his tag partner. With the World Champion once again showing that his word is his honour, both events took place in the opening match of WrestleDream.

Why Did MJF Compete In A Handicap Match?

The Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion was originally due to defend the titles at the pay-per-view alongside partner and best friend Adam Cole. However, when Cole ran to ringside to provide support for his best friend and Grand Slam, Cole landed awkwardly and was seen limping for the rest of the night.

It was announced the following week that Adam Cole had broken his ankle and would require surgery. With there being no definitive window of the return, it looked like the team would have no choice but to give up the championships that they won at All In. MJF refused to let this happen and booked himself in a handicap match for the pay-per-view, determined to still be a double champion when his best friend is cleared to compete.

Because Cole was absent for the title match, it meant that the devastating double clothesline finisher was unable to be utilised, making the victory even more momentous.
